Hello GM Folks!....

We wanted to take a minute to update everyone on the status of your General Motors group Over The Hill Car People  and to thank all of the folks who have contributed to the success of your web site. Your efforts and contributions have made the group what it is today!

As many of you know, the group was founded on December 15, 2003, by a GM retiree, Jack Dickinson (Spoacdc1@aol.com), who decided all GM people needed a means to stay in touch and communicate with the GM community in general. It is with great pleasure that we advise, due to your participation, the web site group will receive its 189,000th visitor this month! We now have members in 49 states, Canada, China and Puerto Rico.

We have been recognized in The Detroit News, The Detroit Free Press, The Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, The ST. Petersburg Times, TheStreet.Com, The New York Buffalo News, The Kansas City Times and CNN. These stories are posted on the web site.  We hope that GM management will view the web site as a positive and a great opportunity for GM to address the folks’ concerns. They have an open invitation to participate with the individuals who made them a great company and will continue to work to assure they survive and thrive today!

Our thanks to Vi Springer for her work with all of our Human Relations questions over the years.  Vi, is a real "Pro" and we appreciate her involvement with our association!

Al Canales is a man of many talents and we appreciate his efforts with the art work on the web site and his ability to bring in new members to our association.

A special thanks to Joel Grosch for his work with our benefit concerns.  Joel is not pictured, but we do appreciate all of his efforts to assist retirees with their questions.

Mario DeCastro has been very valuable in his dedication to keeping us all informed with the obituaries and the general health of our members.  Thanks again Marion for doing this not so pleasant work!

The “Interview/Article of the Month” section of the web site has become one of the most visited links. Kudos to Kathy Bommarito for her efforts with this project! Kathy and all of the people who have taken the time to share a part of their lives with all of the folks at Over The Hill Car People have our utmost appreciation. Everyone has an interesting story to tell and the membership would enjoy hearing from you again, so please contact Kathy at mikeandkathy84@wowway.com to discuss the interview process. We welcome noted author Roger Simmermaker (How Americans Can Buy American) to our GM group. We know you will enjoy their monthly columns.

The members who have sent pictures, stories and documents have also contributed to the success of the GM group. We thank each and every one of you for your time and efforts and encourage all members to play a part as well. The old saying “a picture is worth a 1,000 words” is definitely true. While the pictures are greatly valued, the interviews and GM stories are important as well. So, please keep them coming!

We would be interested in any suggestions and/or comments you care to share with us. Please E-mail them to spoacdc1@aol.com .
