To:
I am a salaried GM retiree and am concerned about the protection of my health benefits and pension. Unlike the hourly retirees, this group of 200,000+ retirees has not had representation on President Obama’s Auto Task Force. We feel we deserve an equal opportunity to have a voice in the decisions that are being made affecting our health benefits, pensions, and financial future.
The presidents of the retiree associations of GM, Chrysler, Ford and Delphi sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and Larry Summers, Director of the National Economic Council on March 24, 2009, requesting an audience with the Auto Task Force to address our concerns. To date, no response has been given to this letter.
I am requesting your help in urging the Auto Task Force to meet with the leaders of the salaried retiree associations. Senator Carl Levin of Michigan has sent a letter to the Auto Task Force requesting an audience be given to this group. Would you please follow Mr. Levin’s lead and send a personal note to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner?
As you know, time is of the essence! The restructuring process has been allotted a very short timetable. Thank you for your timely assistance with this request.
