Honorable Barack Obama

President of the United States

Dear Sir:

On October 26, 2009, we sent you a letter of support for all Delphi Salaried Retirees in their quest to have their pensions protected from PBGC administrative take over.  Once again, we are asking for your consideration for these salaried retirees and their families.  It is our understanding you or your representatives will be in attendance at the Delphi Salaried Retirees settlement conference to be held in Detroit federal court on February 18, 2010.  Please take this opportunity to express your support of these salaried retirees having their pensions restored.

We strongly urge you to act immediately to restore justice and equity concerning decisions involving termination of the Delphi salaried retiree pension plan.  Even the UAW has spoken out about the unconscionable decisions in this case, which reflect an obvious disregard for fair and equitable treatment for salaried retirees.  We have made several trips to visit with our representatives in Washington and in state capitols expressing the need to be just as vocal and attentive.

Please join Chris Lee of New York and Tim Ryan of Ohio and many of your other fellow members of government to take immediate steps to restore the Delphi salaried retiree pension benefits to the same level as that of their fellow UAW-represented retirees.  This is not an unreasonable request as all retirees should have equal treatment with their pension concerns.  In addition, we are acutely distressed by the growing trend in bankruptcy court to allow companies to cast off their obligations to salaried retirees.  These retirees and their families gave the best years of their lives to their employers. Now, in the interest of improving their bottom line, these same companies have turned their backs on retirees.  Salaried retirees earned their pensions and deserve better treatment in company bankruptcy reorganizations.

Please take action now so these American families will not unduly suffer in their retirement years.  They do not merit this unfair and unreasonable treatment!

Regards,

Jack Dickinson, President
