Dear Sir:
I strongly urge you to act immediately to restore justice and equity concerning decisions involving termination of the Delphi salaried retiree pension plan.
Even the UAW has spoken out about the unconscionable decisions in this case, which reflect a blatant disregard for fairness and a serious degradation of the U.S. judicial system. Our representatives in Washington and in state capitols need to be just as vocal … and just as vigilant.
Please rally your fellow members of government to take immediate steps to restore the Delphi salaried retiree pension benefits to the same level as that of their fellow UAW-represented retirees.
In addition, I am seriously alarmed by the growing trend in bankruptcy court to allow companies to shed their moral and ethical obligations to retirees who gave their all to their employers for decades in the interest of improving their "bottom line." Salaried retirees worked for many years to earn their pensions, and must be included on the list of debts that companies cannot shed at will through bankruptcy reorganizations.
It is my understanding you or your representatives will be in attendance at the Delphi Salaried Retirees settlement conference to be held in Detroit federal court on February 18. Please take this opportunity to express your support of these retirees having their pensions restored.
Regards,
Your Name
