Subject: FW: Lets "help" the ACLU !!!!

Hey, wanna have some fun this CHRISTMAS?

Send the ACLU a CHRISTMAS CARD!  As they are working so very hard to get rid of the CHRISTMAS part of this holiday, we should all  send them a nice, CHRISTIAN, card to brighten up their dark, sad little  world.

Here's the Address, just don't be rude or crude.
 (It's not the
Christian Way, ya know?)

 ACLU

125 Broad Street
 18th Floor
 New York, NY 10004

Two tons of Christmas cards would freeze their operations because they wouldn't know if any were regular mail containing contributions.

So spend 37 cents and tell the ACLU (_American Civil Liberties

Union  http://www.aclu.com/)  to leave Christmas
 alone.

Pass this along to your friends and have a
 Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my E-mall address file -- EVERYTHING --
So, if you have sent me anything that was earth-shaking I didn't get it.

Hi,

I'm on a year's leave of absence from GM - then into retirement in April, 2006.  I was wondering if you know how to get the various discounts that are available to GM employees thru Socrates?  Since we don't have access to Socrates - I can't seem to find any way of getting discounts for products like Dell, Direct TV, AOL, etc. - all I can find is for auto deals.  Any ideas??

Thanks

Hi, Jack,

Thank you for your consideration but I knew what this would entail even before I volunteered. The actual copying of the slides goes pretty fast, it's the rest of the process that takes time. Even if the black powder weren't an issue, there's always something else hanging onto the slides, or the color has shifted and needs to be corrected. As a customer of mine in Oklahoma used to say, "If it ain't spiders, it's piss ants". But I'm enjoying the process so if time isn't of the essence, I'd like to continue. And once these slides are on CD's, they'll last forever. If Mr. Lamberson wants a copy I'll be most happy to send him whatever I send you. And they'll be easier to store than the actual slides.

Lot's of interesting things going on with our industry. I'm so grateful for the "OverTheHillCarPeople" web site, keeps us all informed and in tune with lots of opinions. Really appreciate what you've done with it, the least some of us can do is support you in any way we can.

No inconvenience, just sent that as a heads up FYI.  I just logged in so that is working for me now, so looks like your techs whipped the problem.

Was in Colorado Springs week before last and then in Hershey, PA last week for the biggest antique/classic car show and swap meet in the world.  It's attended by 350-400K people from all over the world.  You can't imagine until you've been there.  It's set up around the Hershey factory with2500 + vendors that when you've walked all rows you've covered about 34 miles.  We've been going for 20 years, and I'm sure that the same rust has been seen before.  Off to West Virginia this weekend for Bridge Day at my home town.  It's the longest, highest, single arch bridge in the world  Almost 900 ft. to the water and there will be 400+ Base Jumpers who come from all over to jump.  Since 9/11 they completely close all four lanes of traffic for the visitors to walk and observe and the jumpers.  Discovery Channel, CNN, and other major TV networks cover it.  Usually 150 - 200K visitors attend during the 8 hours that there is activity.

Anyway, didn't mean to ramble, just wanted to say Hi and I'll call you soon so we can chat.

In the last few days I have received e-mails containing the following...

"Keep your faith & pray that the lord will give us strength & that he will protect our livelihood from the Delphi nightmare."

"At church Saturday someone ask for prayers for the people at Delphi."

"Two people from the plant have committed suicide.  The one suicide is known to be due to the stress of Delphi filing bankruptcy."

I thought the e-mails suggesting prayer is a great idea, which is the real reason for this e-mail.
There is strength in numbers, lets start a prayer chain.

Get in touch (or just forward this e-mail) to others and ask them to join you in praying for
the future of the workers at Delphi and to help keep the workers strong through this ordeal.
Let's watch the power of prayer make the workers strong.

Hello out there,

I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with what should be a simple question.

My Mother retired from the Packard Electric GM plant in Hubbard, Ohio in 1987 after 26 years of service.  I have some questions regarding her health care coverage which, due to her advanced age and mental state, she is unable to answer nor is she able to provided a contact. I live far from her so I am not able to go through her paperwork. If someone has a phone number or contact for me, I would be very grateful. I am assuming it is a Blue Cross Blue Shield contact, but I really am at a loss. I live in Canada, so a 1-800 number will not work from here.  I need a direct line or E mail address.

Thank you very much.

We milked cows for 25 years and my husband worked 3 years for TRW making car parts but I wrote a letter many years ago that was read out loud at a GM managers meeting about keeping the V8 motor plant in USA. We do not go to WAl-Mart and we buy American. I even bought a used lamp as all new ones made in China. Our boys are union construction workers. We have MADE IN AMERICA Christmas. I love your site. I hate the way George and rest of politicians are running our country. Maybe our Feingold would do better but he could never win as big business does not owe him. Are the only jobs in USA for our young people going to be fighting George's wars? We are 67 but we worry about next generations.

E-Mail:  GM Pricing To All?

Jack,

I sure hate to see everything that's going on now, as many, many people gave over half their lives for GM! This latest car pricing, advertising everyone can buy at employee/ retiree price really st me off! It only proves my point that they were screwing us when they changed to GMO & GMS. They have just killed the Ambassador Club, why would our friends and neighbors want us to talk to them about supplier pricing when they now know they can get our price! Hog Wash.

Roger,

I have been a proud owner of GM products since the 1970's. I will continue to support GM until they go belly-up or I do, which ever comes first.

My current car (1995 Chevy Cavalier) has 338,000 miles on it and it is still going strong. I actually had a 1986 Chevy pick-up that I drove as a work truck on a daily basis under extreme conditions and environment that was running fine when I sold it to my nephew with

260,000 miles on it. I did a commercial for Chevrolet based on the true story of this truck.

Great page!

I have glanced over the site two or three times but this is the first time I've really explored it thoroughly. I was excited to learn of the attention it has gotten recently and decided to give it a good look.

Your piece in senior moments about the important things that most of us younger folks (I am freshly 26) seem to have forgotten really touched me and renewed my vigor. Your views seem to remind me a lot of my grandparents (my grandmother on my father's side is still alive at 91 years old and works in the yard every day for at least 3-6 hours, not counting laundry and cooking.

She is a fine example of work ethics to us all!). She's not proud at all, probably the most humble, loving, and motherly person I've ever known--the kind of lady that makes you feel bad about all the shortcomings in your own life just being around her. She has a glow about her that makes you want to be a better person just from her simple company and conversation.

Sometimes when the world is getting me down, it only takes a few words from her to make me realize that everything will be fine if I keep my faith. She always seems to have the simplest and wisest solutions to every problem, though we rarely listen. Sadly, I believe that these kinds of people are an endangered species in this world and will no doubt soon be extinct, but it's nice to be reminded that they existed one time, if nothing else but to remind us that we have a choice to be better than the sum of our parts.

I, for one, will never forget "The Greatest Generation"

Thanks for the boost,

Mason Harris, American Believer.

Jack....excuse me...I am still quite computer ignorant and so I'm afraid that I clicked on things that I wasn't supposed to do.  I'll be getting in touch with you soon though. Charlie Maak. I have been circulating the OVER THE HILL to quite a number of folks., and just can't understand why some are adversely against this ....saying "GM has enough problems without having a sort of class action complaint flooding their offices."  If GM is really that concerned that that's what over the hill is all about....then it just proves to me a real need for retiree input is needed to eliminate that. Actually, if that were the case, and over the hill  would gather complaints and send them in --- wouldn't that make more sense than hundreds of individuals writing or e-mailing them?   Sort of like dealing with one Union....or dozens? I recently had an e-mail from Mark Garin from Bloomfield Hills, Mi. whom I hired as a College Graduate in Training back in 1959 at Doraville, Ga. after he transferred to Flint, Mi., I lost track of him. Through the over the hill he found me., and now we can communicate....That to me makes me glad that I heard of this organization.      Charlie

E-Mail: GM discount can be shared with friends, neighbors and extended family members

Just as a reminder, the GM in the Driveway program is still in progress
for the rest of the 2005 calendar year.
This is where an active employee of GM can get a
purchase or lease discount authorization number for people who otherwise
may not consider buying a new GM vehicle.  This discount can be shared with
friends, neighbors and extended family members who are shopping the
competition.

If anyone does not have contact with a current GM employee that can get an
authorization number they can contact me at my work email location
don.thomsen@gm.com   and I will get them in contact with someone.   All they
need is the buyers name, City and State, Birthday, model they are
purchasing and the last 4 digits of their Social Security number.

The good thing is this discount is in addition to most consumer incentives
already in effect and there are few exclusions.

This is something both retired and active employees can do to help
motivate the sales of our cars.

He sent me an email, heard about your group from other guys working there on assignment, that have already retired, but back there doing consulting for car design and interior trim designs. The Buick plant is building some nice cars there, and lots of Buick's on the road over there.

I feel bad about the recent news about GM. Sure feel we were there in the good ol' days. Glad I sold my stock options some time ago.

I found out about your site from a fellow retiree, I was hoping someone would set one up!!

I think the reason GM isn't promoting this is that they don't want the retirees to have an independent way to communicate information. They don't want us to "organize" to protect ourselves.

Thanks, and I'll be visiting often.

E-Mail From: Alex Leslie - GM Health Insurance Dropped!?

I know you all saw that Delphi dropped med. coverage for all of their non union retirees. I see this coming very fast for all of us. Those salary forms we all signed during the 80s and the "early out" paper work gave G.M. the right to make that kind of change. Changes held up in the first law suit filed by thousands a few years back, but they didn't take it to the next level of courts. The first level just covered the paper work.

We all were hired with the "Confirmed Promise" by all of management of FREE everything if we made it through 30 years of active service. I recall telling (selling) that to a lot of people I hired, as most of you do. It is late but we need to get ready to file another suit to slow down or stop this happening to us. I just joined the Overthehillcarpeople.com group and that is a good place to gather up additional support.
Let me hear what you think! Plus send this on to any others that you have an E mail address, if you think it should be passed on.

Your question on Fidelity hit home with me! (1) My first pension statement from them had an erroneous deduction of over $350, which I STILL have not gotten back, (2) This month, I was DOUBLE BILLED for ALL of my Health Care Deductions.

The second set of deductions were noted as "Adjustment(s)". I was told that there apparently were many of these that "no one can explain why it happened", (3), I have started to get notices from my health care providers that they have been declined payment for anything billed after January 1, 2005.

I was told by Fidelity that they are not sure what happened there either, but they would correct it for me and let me know when it is corrected. I'm still waiting for an answer. I can say that in the last 2 months I have spent 50 HOURS on the phone (mostly on hold) and have been shuffled from one "associate" to another and one "Supervisor" to another.

No one seems to follow through or know how to correct the problem. Has anyone else reported problems similar to mine?

I would like to sponsor a club in this area, or if one exists here, they can use my community room for their meetings. It will seat 100 people. Contact me if there is any interest.

Thank you,

Al Leo, President     lioniiii@tampabay.rr.com

Jack,

I read the article in the Free Press, Monday February 28th. Since I run a similar operation, in the aviation industry, it was refreshing to know there are other organizations doing the same. We in aviation moved many times during our careers, so our organization has the same principle, keeping us together in retirement.

I went through your web site and you have a very active site. It looks great, and reads very well. Congratulations.

If you have a moment, our web address is http://www.airwaypioneers.com/   Take a look around.

Keep up the good work, I imagine your salary for your efforts is the same as mine. Zero. It's a labor of love and a good feeling communicating with the members.

Hey, Jack!

Couldn't resist sharing my take on "Senior Moments". I refuse to admit being old enough to have a "senior moment" ... I call mine an "Intellectual Overload!" Smile! Think about it!

Just logged on and haven't had a chance to thoroughly review your site; but I'll bet it will become a favorite of GM Retirees! It appears to be user-friendly!

Haven't mentioned it to Gene yet, but we'll probably join.

Hello again,
Our next visit to Alabama will be around Easter for a couple of weeks. We expect to be in McCalla on March 20th. We know only one other GM couple in the area and we have already sent them your information. Our registration is in the mail. Hopefully, we will see you later this month.
