GM Bankruptcy Status - - Over The Hill Car People

For months now we have been focused on the possible GM bankruptcy and have made necessary preparations. Early on, we determined it would be in the best interest of the salaried retiree to get our voices heard with the Auto Task Force, Governor Granholm, Senators, Representatives and the media.  This groundwork has all been accomplished and documented on our web site. To continue with our legal strategy, we then concentrated our efforts on retaining a strong legal team.

After much consideration, we retained the Chicago law firm of Stahl Cowen Crowley Addis LLC.  You may be familiar with this firm, as they recently prevailed on behalf of Chrysler’s salaried retirees by convincing “New Chrysler” to assume Chrysler’s salaried retirees’ obligations.  Stahl Cowen has represented far more salaried retiree groups in bankruptcies than any other law firm in the United States.  This includes the salaried retirees in the bankruptcies of Chrysler, LLC, Delphi Corporation, Dana Corporation, International Metals (Intermet), FV Steel Corporation, and others.

We anticipated the initial documentation that would be required for the legal defense for GM salaried retirees, such as “Summary Plan Descriptions,” and other benefit plans.  WE ALREADY HAVE THESE DOCUMENTS COLLECTED and our counsel is ready to use them on our behalf in petitioning the court for an 1114 committee to protect salaried retiree benefits.  To the many of you who have provided this documentation, we thank you for your time and support.  We may seek other information later, but we are working from a comprehensive strategy approach, not scrambling to get basic information. Over The Hill Car People is prepared and ready to file for an 1114 committee if GM does declare bankruptcy.  We are pleased to be working with the most experienced law firm in the country in this area of law.

Please take a look at our proactive stance and accomplishments detailed on our web site. We hope all GM groups and retirees will join our efforts to continue with the work of the salaried retiree.  You can do this by clicking this link and joining online: http://www.overthehillcarpeople.com/joinnow_new09.htm.
